Sherlock Sugar Cookies
Some days you just have to let your fangirl flag fly.
For whatever reason, Sherlock (aka the greatest show EVER) has turned me into a full-fledged fangirl. Scratch that. I know the reason for my obsession. Two words…Benedict. Cumberbatch. Haha. Oh, that man. Wouldn’t it be great if he saw this post? Actually, he would probably be terrified. Never mind.
So, my friend Sara and I decided to have a little fun on the premiere of Season 3 and bake a batch of Sherlock themed sugar cookies. Yes… that is our idea of fun. Party time, 221b “Bakery” Street style.
Believe it or not, I didn’t buy a single cookie cutter for this baking adventure! Apparently I have had a lot of Sherlock themed Christmases and didn’t even know it. Obviously, the big gingerbread had to be Sherlock and the little gingerbread man had to be Watson. It just makes sense. An apple? IOU. The teapot? Just a brew of Moriartea. For the rest of the shapes, we simply cut them out with a knife. We had to pay homage to John’s amusing mustache so a mustache cookie seemed like the right thing to do. I also made a married John with a little gold ring that looks like a mistaken smudge of icing. Sara carved out a skull to mirror the art piece hanging on Sherlock’s wall. She also spent a long time on the “I Am Sherlocked” phone. Isn’t it awesome?? We made Molly Hooper with her side ponytail and lab coat, a pink pill for Study in Pink, and John’s Christmas jumper. Last but certainly not least, I had to make a Sherlock dressed in his famous coat with the collar turned up and that beautiful blue scarf.
We had so much fun making these ridiculous cookies. I'm having a hard time accepting the fact that the season is almost over! Three episodes are NOT enough. I don’t care if they are almost two hours long…I need more!
Are you a fan of Sherlock? If not, you should go watch Seasons 1-3 on Netflix right now. Seriously. Your weekend plans are settled. Haha. Who else will be watching the finale on Sunday? I know my lucky British friends have already seen the entire season. I can’t wait to see what happens!
Thank you again for all of your kind words about my new design. I really appreciate your support! I hope you all have a wonderfully relaxing weekend.
