Group Yarn Bomb - Sheepish Bloom Drop Plans & Ideas
So, after a few weeks of delays, I am finally ready to announce my second, worldwide blogger group yarn bomb! I had so much fun hosting the Sheepish Heart Bomb on Valentines Day. I can't wait to do it again next year. This time I decided to go with a floral theme and call it the Sheepish Bloom Drop. The basic idea is the same: knit, crochet, sew, stitch, or fold a flower creation and leave it somewhere out in the world. Attach a kind note and include the hashtag #sheepishbloomdrop so we can see your creations! I love the idea of using creativity to bring a smile to someone's face. It doesn't have to be complicated. Just a simple creation with a kind note can bring a lot of joy. I know how much I appreciate random acts of kindness from both friends and strangers. The Sheepish Bloom Drop is happening next weekend, September 6th-8th. Get your flowers ready! I can't wait to see your creative blooms and read about your experiences. I will post another round up of everyone's flowers here on the blog.
For one of my Bloom Drop yarn bomb ideas, I created this simple, crochet flower cone to hold a bunch of real flowers. I made it early for blog purposes, but I plan on refilling it with flowers and hanging it somewhere around town next weekend. I held two strands of acrylic yarn together to make it sturdy enough to hold up the flowers. The note says, "You rock! Take a flower." Also, this crochet bouquet would be a great way to surprise a friend or neighbor and leave it hanging on their door. That way they could take it inside and put the flowers in a vase! I also plan on making a few simple crochet flower motifs like this one from Lion Brand.
Here are a few other ideas for a bloom drop creation...
- Paper flowers
- Pom pom flowers
- Knit flowers
- Crochet flowers on a chain link fence.
- A knit plant pocket!
I can't wait to see what you come up with! Don't forget to tag your progress photos with the #sheepishbloomdrop hashtag. Are you going to join the Sheepish Bloom Drop next weekend? I hope so!
Enjoy the rest of your day!
