Father's Day Crochet Donut Card Tutorial

After making my mom yet another handmade card for Mother's Day, I realized I needed to finally make something for my dad! He appreciates a handmade gesture too!! :) After drooling over the many donut photos splashed across the internet on National Doughnut Day last week, the donut idea hit me! (Random: Do you say "doughnut" or "donut"? I guess both are right? Haha.) My dad LOVES chocolate donuts with sprinkles. He hardly ever eats them so I thought a calorie-free, crochet version would make a great card. I'm sure I can get him the real thing for Father's Day too. He deserves it. ;)
Materials:

- Size H8/5.00 mm crochet hook
- Light brown yarn, chocolate brown yarn, and a variety of colorful yarns, all acrylic (I used Lion Brand Vanna's Choice)
- Tapestry needle
- Stitch markers
- Cardstock/thick paper
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Glue

Dimensions: 4 inch diameter

Icing:

Next, take a long length of each color of yarn you want to use for the sprinkles. Tie a knot at the end and bring the yarn up through the chocolate icing crochet round. Embroider the sprinkles in a random pattern. Weave in the ends.
Assembly:

- Sew the chocolate icing to the top of the donut.
- Trace the donut twice on a piece of cardstock, the two circles directly next to each other.
- Cut around the circles leaving space in between so the card is connected in the middle.
- Glue the donut to the top of the round paper card. Write your Father's Day message inside!

There is nothing better than making things for my family. I gave my dad his card early and he loves it! :)

Happy Father's Day to the best dad in the world! Are you making anything special for your dad?
