Howdy Folks!

(Don't worry, this is about as "country" as I am going to get on this blog....)

Last Friday I made my yearly trip to the GREAT STATE FAIR OF TEXAS! (You have to say it loud like that, or it just isn't the same). I'm sure a lot of you have been to some sort of fair near your hometown, but I'd be willing to bet none are quite like this one.

This is Big Tex, the symbol of the fair. He is a great guy. He is also taller than me, which is rare. Forty-seven feet taller to be exact! :-) The fair wouldn't be the same without him.

For better or worse, the fair also would not be the same without fried food. I'm not talking about french fries and fried chicken. No sir. People here will fry anything and everything. Just see what I mean...

Fried Moon Pies, Fried Lemonade, Fried S'mores....

Fried Peanut Butter and Jelly, FRIED BUTTER??!?!, Fried Cookie Dough...

And this year's winner...

That's right. Fried Beer. I really have nothing left to say about that.

When I go to the fair, I stick to the classics. You can't go wrong with a Fletcher's Corny Dog. I'm pretty sure all of these people who waited in line with me agree...

As you can see, I am very happy with my corny dog and look forward to seeing all of the craziness again next year.
